What is MicroCUrrent therapy?
Microcurrent therapy at Kotsanis Institute of Functional Medicine is a pain management therapy that uses extremely low-level electrical currents (microcurrents) to help treat nerve and muscle pain, inflammation, and other health challenges. Our board-certified otolaryngologist, Dr. Constantine Kotsanism is now accepting new patients for pain management with microcurrent therapy in Grapevine, TX. Each type of tissue in your body has its own signature electrical frequency, which may be disrupted by injury or disease. Microcurrent therapy simply aims to normalize the frequencies within your cells, resulting in remarkable improvements in pain, inflammation, and function. At the cellular level, this therapy helps to stimulate a dramatic increase in ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the energy that fuels all biochemical functions in the body. It also helps to bump up protein synthesis, which is necessary for tissue repair. The ensuing enhancement in blood flow and decrease in inflammation translates into reductions in pain and muscle spasms and an increased range of motion. "Dr. Kotsanis and his staff are loving, caring, and work with you toward better health. I was miserable with Lyme and other conditions just starting to decline to the point of sleeping most the day, Plantar’s fasciitis so painful it hurt to walk, brain fog, cognitive issues, horrible Lyme anxiety, etc etc I had no desire to take weeks of antibiotics that other doctors recommended especially since I’d been diagnosed with chronic Lyme that doesn’t respond well to just antibiotics and I already had damage from 4 years of antibiotics when I was young. My husband took me to Dr. Kotsanis (mind you we live in Houston). I didn’t even want to hope again and be disappointed. But within weeks of treatment, I began to improve. After 6 months, I feel like a different person. The culture of the clinic and everyone who works there are amazing! I love the people and their passion to best serve their patients and make vulnerable sick people feel cared for! I only go back now and again for a treatment but I love seeing the caring knowledgeable staff. I truly wish they’d train other medical practices how to create such a caring knowledgeable culture."- S.M. / Facebook / Jan 08, 2021
"Dr. Kotsanis treated my diabetic husband with meds and nebulizers after a diagnosis of Covid-19. When Doc then diagnosed double pneumonia in Jim, his staff located one of the two x-ray facilities within 30 miles that would take a Covid-positive patient. After reading the results, Doc referred Jim to Baylor Dallas, the only hospital that could treat patients with remdesivir. Although gravely ill, Jim went home 16 days later."- M.W. / Facebook / Jan 06, 2021
Am I A Candidate for Microcurrent Therapy?
You may suffer with pain from inflammation, injury, or disease. We regularly offer consultations for microcurrent therapy to patients with acute or chronic back pain, neck pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia, diabetic neuropathy, sprains, strains, muscle tears, and more. During a consultation, Dr. Kotsanis can assess your pain and discuss your eligibility for our microcurrent pain relief treatments.
Our microcurrent therapy process
We have regular meetings at Kotsanis Institute in which one of our staff do microcurrent demonstrations and training. You will get a chance to be worked on and get hands on experience. If you can benefit from microcurrent application, you can purchase a unit and do the treatments at home. Unlike the more familiar transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) units, which also use electrical currents to relieve pain, microcurrent energy is so weak that it will not stimulate your sensory nerves, so you feel no shock-like sensations. You may come to as many trainings as you like free of charge and bring a friend or family member with you to learn how to help you. Most people get immediate relief to some extent, but you will see even more benefits accrue over time.
