In no way should this information be used to diagnose or treat any disease. This can only be done by a qualified medical professional and only after a complete history and physical examination is done and the proper testing is ordered.

Information included here is based upon Dr. Kotsanis’ personal clinical experience treating patients for over twenty seven years, as well as review of published scientific literature and medical studies. Dr. Kotsanis integrates both mainstream and complementary medicine. This practice, known as integrative medicine embraces principles and treatment methods which may or may not be accepted or embraced by conventional medicine providers, individual physicians or other health care institutions.

So You Have Been Diagnosed with Cancer

Women ExercisingHearing your doctor say, “You have cancer” is undoubtedly one of the most dreaded sentences one can hear. Mind, body and spirit may feel frozen in time. Stories of people with cancer flash through your mind-most of them bad.

Cancer is often referred to as a disease where “The cure can be worse than the disease.” Did you know that 40 percent of chemotherapy patients reported side effects as their biggest concern compared to 32 percent who thought surviving cancer was their biggest concern.(1)

The days and weeks following diagnosis can be a whirlwind of advice from physicians, family and friends. Your first impulse may be to ask “What are my options?” Your second impulse may be to just do what your doctor tells you, following the advice without exploring or considering other options.

Do Your Research & Know Your Options

Choosing your cancer treatment may be one of the most difficult and important decisions you’ll ever make. This is your life and your choice so investigate, research and learn your options.

Patients in our Comprehensive Cancer Care program become members of our Kotsanis Institute family. We partner for lifelong healthful living. Together as a family, we fight to help you reclaim your life. Each patient is assigned a Care Manager who partners and this role was created to insure that you receive personal attention and availability, when needed. Dr. Kotsanis will work closely with your medical team of physicians: oncologists, primary physicians or other healthcare providers.

We are not just a treatment clinic. We are highly experienced, listen to our patients and are committed to delivering superior care and compassion. We will treat, educate, research, and elevate your well being during your journey with cancer, cancer treatment and cancer aftercare.

Conventional Oncology & Integrative Cancer Care

Although conventional oncology serves most of their patients well, there are a group of patients that fail traditional oncology and/or cannot tolerate traditional oncology. Even though the Kotsanis Institute practices integrative and natural oncology, our Institute doesn’t claim that it is a better alternative to traditional oncology; additionally, Dr. Kotsanis is not an oncologist. Nevertheless, integrative and natural oncology offer treatments that could benefit the patients that have failed traditional oncology or patients that could not tolerate traditional oncology. Furthermore, there is a respectable minority of people that refuse traditional oncology based on religious beliefs. The Kotsanis Institute welcomes all patients that seek natural medicine as well as all patients that seek integrative oncology.

Natural and integrative oncology work on the principle that cancer is a systemic disease that affects the immune system and metabolism. We strive to bring balance in all the systems in your body, i.e., everything from nutrition to digestive system dysfunction, to immune/endocrine/central system harmony. Furthermore, we believe that cancer should be managed by addressing all physical, emotional and spiritual imbalances. Last, but not least, we encourage family participation for optimal healing. Everyone in our Institute will treat you with kindness, love and respect when you visit our office.

The Three Foundational Pillars of Our Comprehensive Cancer Care Program With Conventional Chemotherapy

Nutrition Therapy & Detoxification to Support the Immune Function:

    • This includes diet and nutritional therapy, supplementation and detoxification strategies.

Mind/Body Medicine:

    • A powerful, effective combination of research based healing therapies to help manage the life change and stress associated with illness.

Insulin Potentiation Targeted Low Dose Therapy - The Kinder Gentler More Compassionate Cancer Treatment

The rapid expansion of the integration of conventional (traditional) medicine with complementary alternative medicine (CAM, functional, alternative and nutritional), has lead the search for an effective cancer therapy that has fewer side effects and is less damaging to the body. To fulfill that need, Dr. Kotsanis introduced Insulin Potentiation Targeted LowDose (IPTLDSM) therapy into our Comprehensive Cancer Care Program. IPTLD(SM) therapy satisfies the cry for a kinder, gentler more compassionate cancer treatment.

The Three Foundational Pillars of this Comprehensive Cancer Care Program with Insulin Potentiation Targeted Low Dose Therapy

    • The program follows the National Cancer Institute’s recommended cancer care practice model.

Treat the Cancer:

    • Each patient’s treatment plan is based upon their individual medical profile and where they are in their journey.
    • When called for, standard chemotherapy drugs are administered at low doses (approximately 1/10th the amount of conventional chemo) via the technique of Insulin Potentiation Targeted LowDose Therapy. (IPTLDSM)

    • These therapies may include:
      • Meditation
      • Deep Breathing
      • Oxidative Therapies
      • Colonic Therapy
      • Acupuncture for Pain
      • Massage
      • Craniosacral Manipulation
      • Energetic Diagnostics
      • Emotional Support
      • Spiritual Healing
      • Light Therapy
      • Voice Mapping

The National Cancer Institute has acknowledged the value of the Comprehensive Cancer Care model. By integrating IPTLDSM, therapy into this model, patients now have available a therapy which targets and kills cancer cells and does not target healthy cells.
