I was born in Greece and came to the states as a teenager. My family settled in Chicago, where I attended Austin High School and went to Northern Illinois University (go Huskies!). I then returned to Greece for medical school at the University of Athens. I did my specialty training in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery at Loyola University of Chicago which is when I met and married my wife Beverly. Life has always been an adventure. Bev and I have two wonderful children, Andrew and Katerina who add spice to an already busy schedule. Both of the kids have participated in the practice over the years, and someday I hope one or both of them can take it over. Although I began my medical career quite conventionally, at one point some years after beginning medical practice I began to experience health problems. After extensive testing I was told nothing was wrong with me. All I knew was that I was in pain, fatigued and experiencing severe gastrointestinal issues. This experience taught me that sometimes you have to look for answers in less conventional places. This was before Google existed and before the Internet was readily available to most people. I had to find my answers the old fashioned way - books, journal articles and other sick people. Needless to say this was only the first health challenge my family would face. Some time later we would experience a health challenge with my son who was found to be on the ASD spectrum. Fortunately his condition was not as severe as many I have seen, and we were able to treat aggressively and obtain positive results. I come from a large family. My father was the eldest of 18 siblings and I am the youngest of seven, three brothers and four sisters. As you can imagine, with a family that large, and with people as mobile as they are these days, we now have family all over the world. So we travel often to visit the many friends and family we have amassed over the years. While traveling we always connect with local medical people and learn what they are doing. We love exchanging ideas. Bev and I are also conference junkies. Being up on trends and new research findings is important, so our travels help us learn while we catch up with people. Additionally, because my patients know that we are open-minded and interested in new technologies, they are constantly bringing us new information. Although we keep an open mind, a certain degree of skepticism should always exist to balance the enthusiasm that may come with an idea that sounds too good to be true. Because we still ask a lot of questions, we do some original research in house to test and research new ideas before offering these to patients. We have done, and continue to do clinical trials in house under Investigational Review Board (IRB) guidelines. These studies have brought important findings that are then shared with other health professionals. In addition, our contribution to our local community includes various types of interns who spend time learning and doing projects in our Institute. These range from short high school projects to lengthy one-year studies at the post-graduate level. We always look forward to the next challenge and hope you will decide to become a part of the family of patients and professionals who will help lead us into a healthier and brighter future. |

Pam Rust |
I'm Pam Rust and I love children. Every day as a Clinical Medical Assistant here brings something new and wonderful. You never know what the kids are going to say. They keep me on my toes and keep me laughing. Over my 17 years working with Dr. Kotsanis and our team, I have met hundreds of kids and adults from all over the world. I regularly attend continuing education meetings and meet new people. As a native of Ft. Worth, TX, I never expected I would meet so many different kinds of people. We really get to know our patients. I love every minute. |
Christopher Lowrey
|
I'm Christopher Lowrey and I love the clinical work I do here as a Medical Assistant. I get to learn new things all the time because we are constantly improving the way we do things. The patients are wonderful. I am a veteran of the Iraq war, where I had medical duties and I really appreciate working in peaceful surroundings with a great team. Although I have been here just over a year, I feel that I've known some of my teammates for much longer. I felt welcomed from the very beginning. It feels good to be able to build relationships with the patients over an extended period of time. |
Beverly Kotsanis |
I'm Beverly Kotsanis and I have been Operations Manager since we opened our doors in Texas in 1983. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Loyola University of Chicago and have attended postgraduate studies in business at Rosary College, River Forest, IL and at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. I love this place. There is always something new to learn and the patients are fascinating. Our team is awesome and they are really more than just a team. Over the years they have become my family. As a matter of fact we have several family traditions going here. Jana and Lindsay are mother and daughter, and of course I am "married to my job," having worked with my husband now for over 27 years. I wouldn't have it any other way. We always celebrate each other's birthdays, weddings, anniversaries (and sometimes divorces). Everyone on staff who has children has had one or more of them work in our office at some time or another. Who says you can't pick your family! |
Marge Woodward |
I'm Marge Woodard and I am a Bachelor of Arts Graduate of California State University in Long Beach, CA. I have also been pursuing a combined MBA and PhD in Business Administration at California Coast University. My official title is Executive Director Special Projects. As you can imagine that can cover territory as diverse as human resources, research and development and politics. And I get to do all that and more here at the Institute. I have a long and varied career in human resource management and strategic planning and implementation, mostly in healthcare, education and aviation. I usually work off site so you probably won't see me unless you attend one of our events. I help plan and execute many different types of projects, such as clinical trials and strategic planning. There is never a dull moment. |
Janet Robinson |
I'm kind of new here, but the group just took to me so easily. I just moved here last year from North Carolina. The staff is a lot of fun. I do the bookkeeping and keep track of things like inventory and overhead costs. I work closely with Beverly to keep costs under control so we can make sure we keep our fees reasonable for our patients. |
